This past weekend a group of four of us went to the Canary Islands. Traveling in Europe is sometimes cheaper than living in Europe.
Flight: 98 Euro or about $130
2 Bedroom Apartment with full buffet breakfast with eggs, bacon, baked beans, ham, cheeses, rolls, croissants... you get the idea (not crappy continental thing): $12 euro/night per person
So for 180 dollars we cooked for ourselves and enjoyed a weekend in the Canary Islands. A beautiful desert island off the coast of Morocco (Southern Morocco) it is inhabited in the third weekend of May by retired people. Finding anyone under the age of 30 was a struggle. Most in their 50s and 60s. But that being said, when there are miles of beaches, two pools, and great weather, sometime it really just doesn't matter. It's those little things that you appreciate about Europe. People treating you like you are an adult, a public transportation system that actually can get you places in a short amount of time, and being able to drink a glass of wine in the park.
These are some more pictures of Lagos, Portugal. I'm not sure that all of mine did it justice.
The Toucan Burger from "Nah Nah Bah" was voted one of the best 50 Burgers in the World. And second best in Europe. It lived up to it's hype. So did the rest of the freshly made food. We went there for dinner not once, but 6 days in a row after we found Nah Nah Bah.
