All about the little things

This past weekend a group of four of us went to the Canary Islands. Traveling in Europe is sometimes cheaper than living in Europe.

Flight: 98 Euro or about $130
2 Bedroom Apartment with full buffet breakfast with eggs, bacon, baked beans, ham, cheeses, rolls, croissants... you get the idea (not crappy continental thing): $12 euro/night per person

So for 180 dollars we cooked for ourselves and enjoyed a weekend in the Canary Islands. A beautiful desert island off the coast of Morocco (Southern Morocco) it is inhabited in the third weekend of May by retired people. Finding anyone under the age of 30 was a struggle. Most in their 50s and 60s. But that being said, when there are miles of beaches, two pools, and great weather, sometime it really just doesn't matter. It's those little things that you appreciate about Europe. People treating you like you are an adult, a public transportation system that actually can get you places in a short amount of time, and being able to drink a glass of wine in the park.

These are some more pictures of Lagos, Portugal. I'm not sure that all of mine did it justice.

The Toucan Burger from "Nah Nah Bah" was voted one of the best 50 Burgers in the World. And second best in Europe. It lived up to it's hype. So did the rest of the freshly made food. We went there for dinner not once, but 6 days in a row after we found Nah Nah Bah.

April

So I've been off and adventuring in the month of April. I haven't spent more than 3 nights in a row in my own bed here.

My adventures took me to Lagos, Portugal. Beautiful small beach town on the south coast. Went kayaking, and rented bikes for a day. Wanted to learn to surf, but the tides and weather was not being appropriate.

This past weekend we spent time in Strasbourg where the "other" part of the EU is. Here we did wine tasting and toured around a bunch of little towns the whole weekend. We had like 5 tours... so way to many. One was of a castle though. Definitely what you think of as a little kid.

Castles n' Luxembourg Pics

Last week we took a day trip the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg. From their we took a cool walking tour of Luxembourg and then ended our day at a Castle.

Like all European institutions, I am unable to get a job here since I don't have an EU passport.

Not sure I fully was able to capture how long this building is. It has to be the equivalent of about 3 city blocks.

Dinner. Beef stew with little potato things (no idea what they are called).
